Why St. Francis

Why St. Francis?

At its core, Bon Secours St. Francis Health System is a healing ministry that reflects Christ’s compassionate love for us all. For more than eighty years, we have provided care to all who seek it because we believe that each of us is called with a unique purpose to serve God.

We recognize the specialized needs of cancer patients, their families and their friends. And we provide leading edge treatment strategies, such as the area’s first bone marrow transplant program, an oncology rehabilitation program (one of the few programs like this in the country), and a specialized spiritual care program. We have a strong foundation of compassionate, patient-focused care and a mission of healing that began with our founding Bon Secours Sisters over 200 years ago.

The physicians, nurses and staff at Bon Secours St. Francis carry out this mission daily. We recognize how important a simple touch can be and how powerful compassion stands in the face of a disease like cancer.
Bon Secours St. Francis is known for having a unique ability to combine touch with technology. Cancer care has been elevated to new levels, offering patients prevention and detection, the latest treatment options available, and access to clinical trials, all guided by the compassion that is St. Francis.

We provide patients in the Upstate with a sense of hope in the face of cancer. We help them renew their strength. By blending the latest treatment technologies with St. Francis’ tradition of compassionate care, we can carefully treat the whole person – physically and spiritually – allowing patients to remain close to their homes and loved ones at a time when comfort is more important than ever

We give patients and families new options, from clinical trial programs and bone marrow transplantation procedures to oncology rehabilitation. But most of all, with our unique blend of technology and compassion, we give cancer patients, their families and friends, an opportunity to experience the power of hope.

St. Francis is known for its unique ability to combine touch with technology. We provide leading-edge cancer treatment strategies, such as the area’s first bone marrow transplant program, a nationally recognized oncology rehabilitation program, clinical trials, and specialized spiritual care—all guided by the compassion that only St. Francis can deliver. Additionally, St. Francis’ multidisciplinary approach unites a network of expert physicians to develop individualized treatment plans for each patient.

Cancers Treated

Every year, over 4,000 more Upstate residents are diagnosed with cancer. Few health care providers achieve the blend of compassion and forward thinking that typifies cancer care at Bon Secours St. Francis. Our cancer program treats patients throughout the Southeast and beyond, with world-class physicians that provide a new option for the community in a faith based, not-for-profit setting. Our cancer program has received the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer award with commendation – one of the only facilities in the state to receive this prestigious honor. In addition, it is fully accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).
